This is a high grade Civil War officers buckle.  It is much more three dimension than the image reveals!  The buckle and keeper are matching with both bar and keeper bearing identical benchmarks of "XII".  The integral cast wreath is silver washed as is each and every individual star above and below the banner.  It has the characteristic middle size tongue of the officer grade sword belt plates.  The die work is exceptionally sharp and crisp and lends a very high relief to the design.   This has been a part of my collection and I assure you that it will be pleasing in hand.
